The Story of Old Country BBQ Pits
Founded in 1955 in Laredo, Texas, Old Country BBQ Pits began as a small, family-run welding shop making cattle equipment for ranchers. When the cattle industry declined, the family shifted focus and discovered their true calling: building heavy-duty smokers and grills.
In the early 1980s, as cattle ranching dwindled, the business pivoted toward making outdoor cooking equipment. By 1991, the founder’s son Alejandro joined the business and quickly realized they were exceptionally skilled at crafting smokers.
Today, Old Country BBQ Pits has grown from that modest shop into a high-capacity manufacturing team with over 200 skilled craftsmen, producing rugged smokers, grills, fire pits, and custom pieces — all designed in Texas and built to last.
